Sigenergy’s original SigenStor set a genuinely high bar for home battery storage in Adelaide. Smart software, whole-home backup, serious scalability, and a modular design that let you grow the system as your needs changed. We’ve installed a lot of them across Adelaide and the feedback from customers has been consistently strong.
Now Sigenergy has added something new to the lineup: the SigenStor NEO. It’s expected to hit the Australia market in the second half of 2026, and we’ll be offering it to Adelaide customers.
Here’s what you need to know.
What Is the SigenStor NEO?
The NEO is not a replacement for the original SigenStor. It’s a companion product, a more streamlined, more accessible option designed for the vast majority of residential homes.
The simplest way to understand the split: the original SigenStor continues to serve larger three-phase installs, commercial applications, and homes that need DC fast EV charging. The NEO is built for the standard Adelaide home where simplicity and value matter just as much as performance.
Sigenergy’s own estimate is that around 90% of the systems they’ve installed in the past 12 months could have used the NEO. That tells you a lot about who this battery is designed for.
What’s Different About the NEO?
Cleaner, slimmer design
The NEO has a more compact physical footprint than the original, no separate side panels, everything integrated into one unit. It’s rear-wired, which makes for a faster install and a noticeably neater result on the wall. For Adelaide homes where the battery sits in a garage, under a carport, or in a utility room, this matters.
No separate gateway required (in most installs)
This is one of the more practical differences. The original SigenStor typically needs a separate gateway unit to manage communication between the inverter and the rest of the home. With the NEO, the backup port, smart port, and grid port are all built directly into the inverter. For most residential installs, no gateway is needed.
There’s still an optional gateway available for situations where the inverter is a long way from the switchboard but for the typical Adelaide home, you’re looking at a simpler, more cost-effective installation.
Inverter sizes
Single phase: 5, 6, 8, 10, and 12 kW — the same range as the original SigenStor.
Three phase: 5, 10, and 15 kW. The original SigenStor goes up to 30 kW for three-phase, which is the right call for larger commercial or high-demand setups. For most Adelaide family homes on three phase, 15 kW is more than sufficient.
Battery modules
The NEO uses 6 kWh and 8 kWh modules with the same stacking architecture as the original. You can stack up to six modules per stack, giving you a maximum of 48 kWh in a single stack. That’s substantial capacity for any residential home and means most Adelaide homeowners won’t outgrow it.
What the NEO Won’t Do
Worth being upfront about this. The NEO supports AC EV charging — Type 2 at 7 kW, 11 kW, and 22 kW — which covers the majority of EV owners.
What it doesn’t support is DC fast charging. Sigenergy’s 12.5 kW and 25 kW bidirectional DC-to-DC chargers — and the vehicle-to-home (V2H) capability that lets your EV power your house during a blackout — remain exclusive to the original SigenStor.
If DC fast charging or V2H is a priority for you, the original system is the right fit. For everyone else, the NEO has you covered.
Same Software, Same Ecosystem
One thing that hasn’t changed is the MySigen app and monitoring platform. It’s already one of the best battery management apps on the market with detailed monitoring, AI-driven energy management that learns your usage patterns, and weather-forecast integration that optimises charging around South Australian conditions.
The NEO runs on exactly the same software stack as the original. Whether you prefer to check in daily or just let the system run in the background, the experience is the same.
Paralleling is also supported so if you need more capacity or redundancy down the track, two inverters can be paired on a single site.
How Does It Compare to the GoodWe ESA?
Up until now, the choice between Sigenergy and GoodWe has been fairly distinct. Sigenergy was the premium option with advanced technology and a higher price point. GoodWe was the solid, reliable alternative at a lower price point. Both were good recommendations. They just sat in different parts of the budget.
The SigenStor NEO changes that. Based on what we know about pricing so far, the NEO is expected to land at a similar price point to the GoodWe ESA and in some configurations, it may come in cheaper.
That’s a significant shift. The trade-off that previously pushed homeowners toward GoodWe — Sigenergy’s features at Sigenergy’s price — no longer exists in the same way.
With the NEO, you get the MySigen AI platform, whole-home backup, modular scalability up to 48 kWh, and the build quality Sigenergy is known for, at a price that would previously have pointed you toward a different brand entirely.
Don’t Forget the Federal Battery Rebate in Adelaide
If you’re planning a battery installation in Adelaide, the federal Cheaper Home Battery Scheme is worth factoring into your decision and is still available for Adelaide homeowners.
The scheme launched in mid-2025 and demand has been well ahead of expectations. As a result, the government has made two significant changes to the rebate structure effective from 13 May 2026: rebates will now decrease every six months rather than annually, and larger battery systems will receive a progressively smaller rebate per kWh above 14 kWh.
In practical terms: the rebate is still available and worthwhile, but the longer you wait, the less you’ll receive. If the SigenStor NEO is on your radar and you’re planning to move in the second half of 2026, it’s worth understanding exactly where the rebate sits at the time of your installation.

Is the SigenStor NEO Right for Your Adelaide Home?

It brings the core of what makes Sigenergy great: the software, the modularity, the build quality, whole-home backup in a package that suits the standard home install. The integrated design and removed gateway requirement also mean a cleaner, faster installation day.
The only homeowners who should stick with the original SigenStor are those who specifically need DC fast EV charging, V2H capability, or a larger three-phase system above 15 kW. For everyone else, the NEO is the version that makes sense.
