The Federal Government has officially confirmed its new Solar Battery Rebate, launching July 1, 2025. This initiative is a game-changer, aiming to get 1 million more Australian homes, businesses, and community facilities using battery storage by 2030.
Here’s the key info every Adelaide homeowner needs to know:
30% Battery Discount
The rebate is delivered through an expansion of the current Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).
It covers up to 30% of the cost, or around $372 per kWh of usable battery storage.
That’s a potential saving of up to $18,000 on a 50 kWh system!
System Size & Requirements
Eligible batteries range from 5 kWh to 50 kWh (you can install up to 100 kWh, but only 50 kWh is subsidised).
Batteries must be Virtual Power Plant (VPP)-capable – but you’re not required to join a VPP.
Batteries must be installed with a new or existing solar system.
Available Now – Just Not “Switched On” Yet
Installations from now until July 1 will still qualify — but the battery must not be turned on until the rebate officially starts.
